‘American Pickers’ is looking for treasure in Florida

-

Orange County spokesman Steve Triggs sent an alert via Facebook:

“If you’re a fan [as I am] of American Pickers on the History Channel, the producers are looking for leads for Mike and Frank in January. They are looking for avid private collectors of “rusty gold” and other treasures. No store malls, flea markets, auctions etc. It also helps if the collector is a memorable character.”

He was referring to Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz who, as History puts it, visit “small towns across the country in search of weird and wonderful Americana.”

The list of what they’re looking for includes motor scooters, old advertising signage, motorcycles, pre-1960s bicycles, old toys, pre-1950s vending machines, pinball and slot machines, old movie posters and unusual radios. The show is not looking for farming and agriculture items, tools, glassware, appliances, tractors, crocks, stoves or country primitives.

Producers asks that you “email us your name, number, city, state and a description of the collection. Include photos if possible.” Write to JFriedman@cineflix.com or call and leave a message at 646-493-2184.

So will “American Pickers” be coming to Central Florida? A History spokeswoman said, “There’s going to be outreach all over the state but nothing is locked yet as far as specific areas.”

“American Pickers” airs at 9 p.m. Mondays on History.
