FAYETTEVILLE — Charles R. Smith,
75, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Fayetteville. He was born August 19, 1948, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Milas and Geraldine Davis Smith.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Juanita Davis and his parents, Milas and Geraldine Smith.
Charles retired after 51 years from the University of Arkansas as a computer systems analyst. Charles had a servant’s heart. He selflessly gave his time to take care of others. He also enjoyed working with his hands. He was always in his shop building and fixing things.
Most importantly, he was his grandkids’ biggest encourager and supporter. He never missed any of their school or sporting events. He would even travel the state and other states to cheer them on. He always made sure everyone knew how proud he was of each one of them.
Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years (married September 8, 1973), Charlotte Coston Smith of the home; daughter, Marcia Parrish and husband Darin of Fayetteville; son, Mark Smith and wife Jeana of Springdale; two brothers, James Smith and wife Joyce of Little Rock, and Harold Smith and wife Carolyn of Monticello, Ark.; a sister, Patricia Smith of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren, Madison Hunt and husband Gentry, Brett Smith, Megan Parrish, and Kailyn Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Beard’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Beard’s Chapel with Pastor Jasper Hankins officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville.
