Naturals top Rock Hounds in 11

NATURALS 3, ROCKHOUNDS 2 (11)

MIDLAND, Texas — Elier Hernandez hit an RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to a 3-2 win over the Midland Rock Hounds on Saturday.

Erick Mejia scored the goahead run on the single after he started the inning on second and advanced to third on a groundout.

Midland had a runner on second in the bottom of the 11th, but J.P. Sportman struck out to end the game.

The Rock Hounds tied the game 2-2 in the ninth when Tyler Marincov scored on a wild pitch.

NW Arkansas starter Scott Blewett went seven innings, allowing one run and seven hits while striking out three. Jake Newberry (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while John Gorman (3-2) took the loss in the Texas League game.

Anderson Miller tripled and singled in the win.

For the Rock Hounds, Richie Martin tripled and doubled. Marincov homered and doubled, scoring two runs.

TRAVELERS 6, ROUGHRIDER­S 3

Yonathan Mendoza hit a two-run single in the sixth inning, leading the Arkansas Travelers to a win over the Frisco Rough Riders. The single by Mendoza, part of a four-run inning, gave the Travelers a 3-2 lead before Braden Bishop hit a two-run home run later in the inning. The Travelers tacked on another run in the eighth when Bishop hit a solo home run.
