■ Sean Moon, a church pastor in Newfoundland, Pa., and son of the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon, prayed for “a kingdom of peace police and peace militia” as worshippers clutching AR-15 rifles drank holy wine and exchanged or renewed wedding vows in a commitment ceremony that prompted a nearby school to cancel classes for the day.
■ Ray Adams, 50, a longtime milkman whose route included a state prison in Lebanon, Ohio, was arrested and accused of smuggling contraband to inmates by hiding marijuana, tobacco and cellphones inside milk cartons, prosecutors said.
■ Stuart Albright, a judge in Forsyth County, N.C., sent several prospective jurors home and postponed trials after the county print shop made a mistake and failed to send out notices to about 1,700 people selected for the jury pool needed to hear cases.
■ Catherine Martin, spokesman for a high school in Santee, Calif., said a 14-year-old ninth-grader was arrested on accusations of making terroristic threats after he reportedly posted a photo of a Lego rifle on social media with a menacing message.
■ James Krey, 40, a former police officer in Davie, Fla., convicted of extortion for threatening to send nude photos and a sex video of a former girlfriend to their Police Department colleagues, was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
■ Dana McCool said she’s engaging in “peaceful protest” over large variations in her water bill by paying a $493 bill with more than 49,000 pennies, which took water department employees in Deltona, Fla., more than two hours to count.
■ Marwan Al Ebadim, 28, and Salma Hourieh, 29, ran when police arrived at a gas station in Peoria, Ariz., to investigate a shoplifting complaint only to be caught and arrested when they jumped a fence and landed in the secure parking lot used by a city police station.
■ Jamie Holt, a Mississippi wildlife biologist, said a black bear attacked a woman’s car in Sontag, a community south of Jackson, leaving tooth and claw marks as well as damaging a headlight and the front license tag, even though there was no food in the vehicle.
■ Mordechai Persoff, a rabbi with the Mikdash Educational Center in Jerusalem, said the center minted 1,000 biblical half-shekel coins bearing President Donald Trump’s image to recognize Trump’s “big declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of the holy people.”
