Inequities in college football rigs system
Unlike major league football basketball, baseball, and hockey, there is no draft of players in Power 5 and Group of 5 college and university sports to give every team an equal chance to acquire the most recent top-talented players. Major league teams long ago realized the necessity of a mechanism to distribute talent to all teams.
In the major university and college conferences, one to three teams historically have won the majority of championships. It is astonishing that the academic world, filled with the most intelligent members of our society, overlooks or ignores this fact. The historical record alone should be adequate to convince the most skeptical person that the deck is stacked; the game is rigged against those teams that are not amongst the top three. The lower-level teams are cannon-fodder for the upper-level teams. How old do you think you will be before Kansas or Indiana wins a conference championship in football, much less a national championship?
It is equally amazing that university and college presidents, chancellors, and administrators and faculty in those institutions that are not in the top three teams, never appear to be held accountable for their inaction against this gross inequality. The alumni and fans who realize the situation can only vote with their feet.
