Rogers, Bentonville lane closings set
ROGERS — Bridge construction on Interstate 49 will require nighttime lane closings, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.
Beginning tonight, crews will work on the I-49 bridge over New Hope Road at Exit 83. The center and outside lanes of northbound traffic will be closed overnight. The closings will occur nightly between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Friday, weather permitting.
The $38.7 million project will widen five miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Arkansas 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers.
Also, crews will place bridge beams over U.S. 62/ Arkansas 102 in Bentonville requiring closing all lanes for multiple 15-minute intervals through at least Thursday, according to Transportation officials.
Eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 will be closed between Phyllis Street and Southeast Eagle Way to allow crews to hang bridge beams at the I-49 overpass over the highway. Traffic using the I-49 off ramps at Exit 86 may be impacted during the closings and should consider alternate routes.
Workers plan to close the lanes for 15-minute intervals between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The $27.7 million project includes widening more than three miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from U.S. 62/ Arkansas 102 to Arkansas 72 and includes auxiliary lanes toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. Construction is expected to be complete later this year.
