Goblins’ execution nearly perfect in victory

HARRISON — The Harrison Goblins did whatever they wanted on offense Friday night in their home opener.

The Goblins scored touchdowns on each of their first seven possession­s and rolled to a 48-12 mercy rule win over Siloam Springs at F.S. Garrison Stadium.

Harrison (2-0) had 458 yards of offense in the first half alone and finished the night with 540 yards, 332 of which came on the ground.

Goblins sophomore fullback Brooks Both set the tone early taking a misdirecti­on handoff 51 yards untouched for the Goblins’ first score with 7:54 left in the first quarter.

The Panthers (0-2) looked like they had answered with a touchdown on their ensuing drive, but the play was called back by a penalty and Siloam Springs wound up missing a field goal.

Harrison made it 14-0 on their next possession, driving 80 yards in eight plays — all rushes. Gabe Huskey carried the final 62 yards on five carries, including a four-yard TD run with 1:33 left in the first.

Harrison poured it on in the second quarter with four more scores. Hunter Holtby ran for 18 yards to begin Harrison’s third possession and capped an 83-yard drive wth a 14-yard touchdown run to make it 21-0.

Huskey scored again with 2:37 left on a two-yard run to make it 28-0.

Siloam Springs got on the board with a quick score on a 12-yard run by Kaiden Thrailkill to get within 28-6 with 1:59 left in the half.

But Harrison scored again with 45.6 seconds left when Mason Martin ran around the left side for a 47-yard touchdown and 35-6 lead.

The Goblins recovered a Siloam Springs fumble on the kickoff and scored again with 3.2 seconds left when Cameron Jones hauled in a 21-yard pass from Noah Ditmanson for a 41-6 lead.

The second half would be played with a running clock.

Siloam Springs scored the game’s final touchdown when sophomore Taylor Pool threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Gage Weaver in the fourth quarter.

Huskey did all of his work on the ground in the first half with 126 yards on 14 carries, while Martin had four carries for 64 yards, Both two for 49 yards and Holtby five rushes for 47 yards.

Ditmanson finished 10 of 16 passing for 208 yards and two scores. McCormick led all Goblins receivers with five catches for 102 yards.

The Goblins’ defense held the Panthers to 171 yards of offense.
