WASHINGTON COUNTY
Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 699 N. Sang Ave., plans many activities to celebrate the High Holidays.
Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, is Sept. 21-22. Activities include, Sept. 20 — an evening service at 7:30 p.m.; Sept. 21 — morning service, 10 a.m.; children’s service, 11:15 a.m. to noon; potluck, noon; Tashlich and dessert, 2:30 p.m. at Wilson Park in Fayetteville; Sept. 22 — morning service, 8:30 a.m.; Kiddush and refreshments, 11 a.m.; service continues, 11:30 a.m.; potluck, 2:30 p.m.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is Sept. 29-30. Activities include, Sept. 29 — Kol Nidre, 7:30 p.m; Sept. 30 — morning service, 10 a.m.; children’s service, 11:15 to noon; afternoon service, 4 p.m.; Yitzkor service, 6:15 p.m.; concluding service, 6:45 p.m.; break-the-fast, 7:30 p.m.; evening service, 7:35 p.m.
Unless indicated, all activities are held at the temple. No tickets or membership are required.

First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, offers a worship service at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Christian education classes for all ages resume at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale, 1506 W. Robinson Ave., offers the DivorceCare ministry, meeting from 4 to 5:30 p.m. each Sunday, beginning this week. The program is designed to help those divorced and going through divorce with their feelings and changing situations.
Scholarships are available, if needed. Babysitting is provided.

BENTON COUNTY
Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas, 1051 W. Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, hosts Elizabeth Henry, once an orphan in Eastern Ukraine, at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 in “The Lodge” on the church campus. Henry, now the adopted daughter of an American family and a senior at Virginia Tech university, received a shoe box from Operation Christmas Child and will share its impact on her life.

New Wine Ministries, 8030 La Croix Road, Decatur, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, celebrates the Feast of the Tabernacles on Oct. 5-15 with worship, spiritual dancing, speakers and food. Evening meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in Bella Vista. Morning meetings are planned for Decatur.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County, 1400 W. Walnut, No. 113, Rogers, gathers Sept. 17 at its new location in the Quarter Shopping Center for a worship service at 11 a.m. The service features an intergenerational “Water Ceremony” led by Teresa Honey Youngblood. Participants are asked to bring water that’s special or represents the family.
A discussion group formed this summer meets at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday for four sessions. “##UUWhiteSupremacyTeachIn” is a group that will explore white supremacy and help the community commit to resist it and battle discrimination. Registration requested.

Unity Church of the Ozarks in Bentonville, 12 McKissic Creek Road, Suite 1210, presents Larry Owensby leading a gong meditation for World Day of Prayer Week at 7 p.m. Wednesday. An offering will be taken.
The church offers a new morning class beginning Sunday. The class is based on the book, Finding Yourself in Transition: Using Life’s Changes for Spiritual Awakening by Robert Brummet.
A class at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, beginning Sept. 20, will study the book The Unteathered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Singer. The study will be followed by a 20-minute meditation.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, offers a new worship service on Saturday evenings, beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 16. The service will be the same as the three Sunday morning worship services at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. In addition, the church offers a sign language interpreter during every 11:30 a.m. Sunday service.
The adult singles ministry, for all ages, eats lunch at 12:45 a.m. Sunday at Papa Mike’s restaurant in Bella Vista.
A new women’s Bible study begins at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19, complemented by the book, Outlive Your Life: You Were Made to Make a Difference by Max Lucado.

A group from the church leaves Sunday on a bus trip to the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum in Williamsburg, Ky.

First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, 1901 S. 26th St., hosts an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 26 for the Bright Horizons Early Learning Center at the church. Enrollment is open for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. The program operates from 7:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, beginning Oct. 2.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors the Disciple Women “Celebration Saturday” at 10 a.m. today, featuring Carlene Beam reading “Promise and Struggle in the Garden.”
The Men’s Disciples group meets at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 16, with Danny Camarillo of the Salvation Army speaking.
The church singles group meets after the 10:30 a.m. worship service each Sunday. They also gather for dinner and fellowship at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 and every third Tuesday of the month.
The church sponsors an indoor sale and bake sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21-22 and 7 a.m. to noon Sept. 23.

The Neighborhood Church in Bentonville, 2003 S.W. Regional Airport Road, plans a “Welcome Home” celebration with one worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. The church starts its “Come to the Table” capital campaign for a new building. Food and games follow the service on the church’s property on S.W. I St. in Bentonville.
Church members will serve 13 different organizations for “Serve Day” on Sept. 24.

The United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, plans “Rally Day” from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a golf tournament, classic car show, picnic, face painting, box-car derby and cake walk. The church sponsors a diaper drive for the H2O food pantry Sunday.
A Sunday morning education group begins a threepart documentary, titled Race: The Power of the Illusion, starting this week.
The Women of United hold “Let’s Gather” at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 for a general meeting and salad supper. Members who attended the Triennial Convention will give a report.
The Breakfast Club meets at 8 a.m. Monday, with Barbara Roberts, a social worker in the Gravette school district speaking. The Senior Circle meets at noon Sept. 26 for a program on arthritis. A new womens’ group, “Sit and Chat,” holds its first meeting at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2.
The church offers a book study focusing on Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived by Rob Bell. Discussions are planned for 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3.
The church hosts the Arkansas and Oklahoma Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 for the 30th Synodical Convention, “New Every Morning.”

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., starts this week a new six-week video series Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul, considering the Bible’s teachings on election and predestination. The men’s Bible study meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday.
The women’s Bible study starts a new study Sept. 21 on the book, Fight Back With Joy by Margaret Feinberg. The women’s study meets at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday, with the class being taught a second time at 6 p.m. each Thursday. The book costs $15.
