■ Don Young, 84, in his 23rd term as Alaska’s sole House member, apologized for addressing 51-year-old U.S. Rep. Pramilia Jayapal of Washington as “young lady” and saying that she “doesn’t know a d*** thing what she’s talking about” during a floor debate on national preserves.

■ Skip Holbrook, police chief of Columbia, S.C., said 38-year-old Keon Myers refused orders to drop his weapon and committed suicide moments after his 2-year-old son shot and killed himself after finding a loaded gun in the family’s home.

■ Martin Shkreli, the former hedge fund manager awaiting sentencing for defrauding investors, faces having his $5 million bail revoked for offering his Facebook followers $5,000 to grab a strand of Hillary Clinton’s hair during her book tour, federal prosecutor­s said.

■ Jeremy Goebel, a farmer in Evansville, Ill., created a corn maze with trails outlining the face and upper body of Star Wars character Princess Leia, saying he did it to pay tribute to actress Carrie Fisher, who played Leia and died in December 2016.

■ Michelle Watkins, 33, of Junction City, Calif., was arrested on burglary and other counts after a homeowner called police when he arrived home from work to find a sandwich with a bite out of it, an open beer and a naked woman he didn’t know asleep in his bed.

■ Gail Lalonde, 46, and Dale Deavers, 48, face childabuse, drug and other counts after they locked Lalonde’s 9-year-old granddaugh­ter nightly into a 4-foot-by-8foot wire dog kennel in the basement of a house near Wind Lake, Wis., sheriff’s investigat­ors said.

■ Michele Pihera, a police corporal in Gwinnett County, Ga., said investigat­ors are looking for the driver of a pickup who pulled into a hotel parking lot, grabbed a woman’s purse, then ran over her and dragged her a short distance as she fought back.
