NHL: Devils downed by Kings

Carl Grundstrom scored the tiebreakin­g goal midway through the third period and Cal Petersen made 23 saves as the Kings handed the Devils a 3-2 loss on Sunday night in Newark.

Jesper Bratt scored twice for the Devils, and Damon Severson had two assists. Jon Gillies, coming off his first win since 2018 the previous night, had 34 saves.

WOMEN’S HOOPS: Lee nets record

In Manhattan, Kan., Ayoka Lee broke the NCAA women’s single-game scoring record for Division I with 61 points to help Kansas State (15-4, 5-2 Big 12) romp to a 94-65 victory over No. 14 Oklahoma (16-3, 5-2). She made 23 of 30 shots from the floor — all 2-pointers — for the Wildcats.

NBA: Bucks’ Allen banned 1 game

The league suspended Bucks guard Grayson Allen for one game for his hard foul on Alex Caruso that resulted in a broken right wrist for the Bulls guard. He will serve his suspension Wednesday when the Bucks visit the Cavaliers.

Caruso was driving to the basket Friday night when a hard foul by Allen caused him to land on his right side.

In Washington, Jayson Tatum scored 51 points, and the Celtics breezed to a 116-87 victory over the Wizards.

In Miami, Jimmy Butler broke LeBron James’ record for triple-doubles in a Miami uniform, and the Heat held on late to beat the Lakers, 113-107.

In San Francisco, Jordan Poole scored 20 points to lead a balanced scoring attack, and the Warriors held off a late Utah rally to beat the Jazz 94-92.

In Dallas, Luka Doncic had 37 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists and Kristaps Porzingis had 15 points, eight rebounds and a season-best six blocks as the Mavericks shut down the Grizzlies, 104-91.

GOLF: Swafford wins 2nd Amex

In La Quinta, Calif., Hudson Swafford won the American Express for the second time in five years, breaking a late tie with an eagle in a closing-round 8-under 64.

Swafford beat Tom Hoge by two strokes on PGA West’s Stadium Course after beginning the day three strokes behind rookies Lee Hodges and Paul Barjon.

In Orlando, Fla., Danielle Kang ran off five birdies in a seven-hole stretch in the middle of her round, posted the low score at 4-under 68 and sprinted away to a three-shot victory over next-best Brooke Henderson at the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club.

MEN’S HOOPS: No. 3 ’Zona cruises

In Berkeley, Calif., Christian Koloko had 19 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks to lead No. 3 Arizona (16-1, 6-0 Pac-12) past California (9-10, 2-6), 96-71.

In Hamden, Conn., Tyson Jolly had 20 points as Iona (16-3, 8-0 MAAC) beat Quinnipiac (10-7, 5-4), 76-61.

In North Andover, Mass., Elijah Ford had a season-high 20 points as Wagner (12-2, 6-0 NEC) won its ninth straight game, defeating Merrimack (8-12, 3-4), 71-57.
