NANCY COY ON A TRIAL DATE
Shaman left creepy note for VP: feds
The accused Capitol rioter known as the “QAnon Shaman” left a threatening note for Vice President Mike Pence during last week’s siege — and another intruder fired up a “victory” cigar after breaking in, authorities said.
Jacob Anthony Chansley — who was caught on camera in the Capitol wearing a horned, fur headdress and face paint (right) — was among the first raiders inside the Senate chamber and left his ominous warning note on the dais, court papers allege.
“It’s only a matter of time, justice is coming,” it read, according to federal prosecutors.
The 33-year-old Arizona man claimed to the feds that the note wasn’t meant as a threat but allegedly launched into a “lengthy diatribe” against Pence and other leaders, including President-elect Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“Strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government,” prosecutors wrote.
The court papers were filed in Phoenix federal court late Thursday in a bid to keep Chansley, who was arrested on Jan. 9, locked up without bail.
Meanwhile, authorities in upstate New York announced on Friday the arrest of former Marine Dominic “Spaz” Pezzola, 43, in connection with the riot.
The Rochester man is accused of using a plastic Capitol Police shield to smash a window and climb into the building as someone yelled, “Go, go, go!” at 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 6, according to court papers that say the breach was captured on video.
Images of the break-in are included in the court documents, along with a screenshot from a video that allegedly shows Pezzola — whom Vice News identified as a member of the farright Proud Boys — smoking a cigar in the Capitol.
“Victory smoke in the Capitol, boys. This is f- -king awesome. I knew we could take this motherf- -ker over [if we] just tried hard enough,” he allegedly says in the clip.
In addition, an informant allegedly told the FBI that Pezzola and his pals later discussed returning to the Capitol on Inauguration Day, and that “they all had firearms or access to firearms.”
The men also allegedly said they would have killed any lawmakers “they got their hands on” during the siege, including Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Pezzola, who is charged with crimes including obstruction of an official proceeding, was ordered locked up after an appearance in Rochester federal court, according to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
