SUTTON’S PLACE

‘Younger’ star glad to be back in production for Season 7 of TV Land dramedy series

SUTTON Foster is counting her blessings this holiday season, which includes her seven-season run on “Younger.” With Season 7 currently in production, the 45-year-old actress says she’s savoring her time on set on what is likely the TV Land show’s final season.

“It’s been awesome being back, and again, I feel really lucky to be working,” says Foster, noting that production got pushed from March to October due to the pandemic.

“We have so much fun on the set,” she says. “There’s a lot of giggling, a lot of fun. It’s a really happy place to be, and I think we’re just trying to savor it because we know we won’t all be together after this.”

Since 2015, Foster has played series lead Liza Miller, a 40-something suburban mom who pretended to be in her 20s in order to work her way back into the publishing world.

Along the way, Liza befriended publishing whiz Kelsey Peters (Hilary Duff ). Duff ’s character is rumored to be at the center of a “Younger” spinoff series — and the actress had to self-quarantine after being exposed to COVID. “We all have grown up and gotten married and had babies, and so much has happened during those seven years for all of us,” Foster says. “And there’s just a lot of love and respect, I think, among the cast and the crew.”

In addition to cherishing the moments with her “Younger” pals, Foster is getting ready for the holidays with her family and cooking up a storm with a little help from her 3-year-old daughter Emily. “My daughter’s a helper, she likes to say, ‘I’m a helper, I like to help,’ so we love to do stuff in the kitchen,” Foster says. “This morning, we actually made a soup, a sweet potato chickpea chowder with greens.”

Foster says she uses Lactaid in recipes that call for real milk due to her lactose sensitivity (she recently partnered with the brand).

She also noted how she and a friend are participating in a soup swap as another way to stay connected amid the global pandemic.

“We each make a soup each week and then we swap half the batch with each other so that we’ll each have two soups,” she says. “We’ve been doing that for six weeks and that’s been great — there are always warm and wonderful things and we keep trying new recipes.

“We’re going to start swapping pies and cookies; that’s another great way we’re sort of navigating the holidays,” she says.

“Doing things with friends, where you can’t be in the same room, but you can still share food and share memories and moments, and challenge one another with a new recipe...We’re trying to make the most of it.”
