Starting the week off-track

City straphangers were forced to endure yet another morning of commuter hell Monday morning — with even an MTA board meeting delayed by signal problems.

Signal issues at Brooklyn’s Bergen Street station crippled service up and down the F line, causing extensive delays shortly after 6 a.m. and leaving one Manhattan-bound train stalled inside the tunnel between the Carroll Street and Bergen Street stations for nearly an hour before the train reversed back to Carroll Street.

“I sat patiently waiting for the train to move, and then they announced we are going back to Carroll Street,” said a 61-year-old rider who had boarded at Carroll Street.

The trouble caused F trains to run on the D line between the West Fourth Street station in Manhattan and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn in both directions while making local stops in Brooklyn.

The MTA’s own financecommittee meeting started 15 minutes late because board member Larry Schwartz was stuck on a stalled train.

“That’s the truth,” he told the board.

G-train service between the Bedford-Nostrand and Church Avenue stops also was wiped out in both directions.

At the same time, some southbound N trains ran local between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 36th Street in Brooklyn to “alleviate congestion,” the transit agency said.

By 7:50 a.m., the MTA tweeted that F and G trains “are beginning to resume service on their regular routes.”

“Continue to expect major delays,” the tweet read as the MTA told commuters to “consider taking a B Q 2 or 5 train or B35, B38, B67 and B69 bus if it’s convenient for you.”
