Weird BUT true

- Wires

A Brit might call this “blooming’’ insanity.

Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs service, which collects taxes, has spent some $13,000 since 2014 apologizing to people it overbilled — by sending them bouquets of flowers.

A spokesman said it’s a “more personal gesture.’’

A Tampa woman who just arrived at the local airport, turned on her voicemail and heard her brother, who recently had undergone surgery, say he needed a ride to a hospital. NOW!

Lisa Nagengast tried to phone his social worker, but misdialed and found herself speaking to a man named Zach Hillmer, an employee at a Jimmy John’s sandwich store. When she tried to apologize, Hillmer assured her it was no problem, and provided the taxi service.

The patient is fine.

This takes the cake. Waiters at a restaurant in Ukraine finally got fed up with two women diners who were being exceptionally rude. One of the women is heard on a video saying “why the f--k would I eat your cake?”

The waiter then shoved the cake into her face. Not to be outdone, one of his colleagues grabbed another slice and gave her friend the same treatment.

The owner of the Italian eatery said “the situation was provoked by the clients and the waiters will not be punished.’’

He sure knows the ropes. A Japanese man skipped rope 151,409 times to set a Guinness World Record.

A nimble Hijiki Ikuyama, 36, said afterward, “It was so tough, I had to take 10minute breaks every 20 minutes.’’

A shark and an elephant have something in common — they’re both thieves.

The shark swam up to a boat off Australia’s coast and stole a freshly caught squid. In China, the elephant stole a bag of rice from outside a home. The pachyderm later returned, but the resident had learned his lesson and hid the food.
