Oleg widow walks free

THE widow of fashion icon Oleg Cassini was released Friday after spending six months in jail for contempt of court. Marianne Nestor Cassini, who was secretly married to Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ favorite designer, was jailed in May for failing to comply with the orders of Nassau County Surrogate Court Judge Margaret Reilly.

Oleg died in 2006, leaving an estate worth about $60 million. In the years since his death, his two daughters by movie star Gene Tierney died before they could collect a penny.

Oleg’s grandson Alexandre Cassini Belmont, along with his three siblings, are fighting for their share of half the estate. Reilly ruled in 2017 that there was “ample evidence” that Marianne had transferred “multiple estate assets into her own name.”

The 68-year-old former model had been cooling her heels in the Nassau County jail after failing to provide financial documents, passwords and keys to a courtappointed receiver. Marianne’s nephew, Al

exander Cassini (his father was Oleg’s brother), told me, “She sounds great. She said she lost 20 pounds and all her old clothes fit.”

The disputed estate includes a 43-acre property in Oyster Bay, two Manhattan town houses and memorabilia related to Jackie O and Grace Kelly, who was romantically linked to Oleg before she became Princess of Monaco. The Oyster Bay property was put up for sale in June and recently its asking price was cut to $16.5 million. Marianne’s lawyer, Ste

ven Gaitman, told me, “There are certain things she couldn’t do while incarcerated. She has purged the contempt to the best of her ability.”

A source said, “She’s been released on bail so she can do the things she is supposed to do.” Marianne posted the deed to the 19th Street town house as security for bail, the source said.

She is due back in court Nov. 30.
