OFFENSE

Rarely has Eli Manning been better. He hit on 25-of-29 passes for 297 yards and two TDs and was in total command of everything that went on. Not bad for a 37-year-old. Active and efficient outing for Odell

Beckham Jr. (9 rec., 109 yards) on 10 targets and loads of big plays from Sterling Shepard (6, 80, 1 TD). Saquon Barkley (17 carries, 82 yards) got his knee banged up on his first carry, but was a big factor, and his 15-yard TD run was special. Right tackle Chad Wheeler battled in his first start of the season, but J.J. Watt still got three sacks. Nate Solder kept Jadeveon Clowney quiet all game. Season-high 114 rushing yards a plus.

DEFENSE

Two forced turnovers were critical in keeping the Texans comeback from sticking. No problem stopping the run — 59 yards allowed — and Deshaun Watson’s scrambles (5 carries, 36 yards) were problematic but not killers. Watson threw for 385 yards, but only one touchdown before a garbage-time score and LB

Alec Ogletree intercepted him in the end zone. Bend but not break to the max.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Aldrick Rosas is off to a fine start; he hit two more field goals to remain perfect this season. Stacy Coley’s first play with the Giants was a muffed punt, but at least he recovered it. He also ran east-west on a bad 6-yard kickoff return to the 9-yard line. Giants allowed a 27-yard punt return on a 53-yard punt by Riley Dixon.

COACHING

Benching Ereck Flowers was a good move by Pat Shurmur — probably two games later than warranted. How about the run-pass balance of 27-29? Pretty much ideal. Shurmur’s even-keel persona seemed to help after an 0-2 start.

James Bettcher was able to get his guys up-front to apply decent pressure, but Watson is a hard guy to pin down.
