One of two men sought in the stabbing of an Eric Adams campaign volunteer in the Bronx was identified by police on Wednesday.

Gary Oliver, a Bronx resident with a record of 14 arrests, is believed to have repeatedly stabbed the volunteer who was handing out campaign literature at the corner of E. 149th St. and Morris Ave. in Mott Haven around 2:40 p.m. Sunday, said police.

The second man sought in the case has not been identified.

The 42-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was reported in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital after undergoing surgery.

As the victim handed out campaign literature outside a bodega, he got into an argument with Oliver and the other man. Surveillance video obtained by WNBC-TV shows the victim backing away as the stabber pursued him and cornered him against a van.

After the stabbing, Oliver and the other suspect (inset top) took off. Oliver is the “man in the tank top” (inset bottom) in the video, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said during a news conference at Police Headquarters.

Cops recovered a knife about a block away from the stabbing and an ice pick from the scene, police sources said. Investigators believe the ice pick belongs to the victim, said the sources. Adams said the victim was stabbed with the ice pick.

The Adams volunteer has refused to tell detectives what happened, said Essig. Police sources say he has a record of 18 arrests. “The victim is standing outside a bodega and [he and his attacker] shake hands, so they appear to know each other,” Essig said.

Adams, who on Wednesday was leading the vote count in the Democratic mayoral primary, visited the stabbing victim in the hospital Sunday. “This is a young man that had had several brushes with the law and he was inspired by the campaign and decided he wanted to be part of this movement of change,” Adams said Monday.
