Perriman, McGovern likely out for Indy

- BY MANISH MEHTA

The Jets will likely be without a couple more starters when they travel to Indianapolis.

Wide receiver Breshad Perriman (ankle) and center Connor McGovern (hamstring) are both week-to-week after leaving Sunday’s 31-13 loss to the 49ers at MetLife Stadium.

Perriman is off to a rough start after the Jets signed him in free agency to replace Robby Anderson, who is off to a scorching start with the Panthers.

Perriman, who was widely considered a first-round bust for years before he caught fire last December, has just five receptions for 29 yards for Gang Green. He left in the second half Sunday after getting his ankle rolled up. Meanwhile, Anderson has 15 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown in his first two games in Carolina.

McGovern, who was another key free-agent addition, was supposed to anchor the rebuilt line. Josh Andrews replaced him on Sunday. The Jets cut respected veteran Jonotthan Harrison, who started 10 games at center last year after the failed Ryan Kalil signing. Harrison signed with the Bills practice squad last week.

Perriman’s injury is the latest in a string of setbacks for the wide receiver corps that is already without Denzel Mims, who will miss at least two more games after being placed on Injured Reserve, and Jamison Crowder, who missed Week 2 with a hamstring injury.

Chris Hogan, who had six receptions for a team-high 75 yards on Sunday, is dealing with sore ribs.

Gase said quarterback Joe Flacco (neck) will have another medical checkup in the next day or two. It’s expected that Flacco will be cleared for full activity, according to sources. It’ll be incumbent upon Jets brass at that point to determine if Flacco is ready to be active against the Colts on Sunday. The Jets have typically taken a cautious approach with injuries.

The already thin secondary also suffered a couple hits. Cornerback Quincy Wilson, who started against San Francisco, is in the concussion protocol. Cornerback Arthur Maulet has a hamstring strain.
