Addictive delight among Milk Bar’s hot new lattes
New York’s favorite sugar high can now be sipped. Crack Pie — the addictive buttery filling-packed treat that’s topped with a toasted oat crust and has been a longtime hot seller at Milk Bar locations — is now a new latte flavor.
The mini-chain famous for its over-the-top desserts debuted three new latte flavors, all inspired by hit flavors at the bakery: Crack Pie, Cereal Milk, and B’Day.
The Crack Pie Latte is crafted with dark brown sugar, corn ganache, espresso and steamed milk. It’s inspired by the Crack Pie filling, which is loaded with sugar, corn powder, butter and heavy cream.
You don’t have to be celebrating a birthday to order the B’Day Latte, which takes its cue from the sky-high cake of the same name, known for its three layers of funfetti cake base sandwiched between rich frostings and topped with giant, sugary, colorful crumbs. The latte version is made with B’day crumbs, “B’day syrup,” espresso, steamed Cereal Milk (another Milk Bar favorite), salt, yellow cake flavor and topped with sprinkles. The Cereal Milk Latte was an off-menu item at Milk Bar, ordered up by those in the know. But now its official and made with espresso and steamed cereal milk — the flavor of the sweet milk you’ll find at the bottom of your breakfast bowl that’s already available here in Milk Bar’s soft serves and shakes. The trio of new lattes come in three different sizes, from 8 to 16 ounces, and cost between $4 and $6 at New York locations. Milk Bar — which has several shops sprinkled around Manhattan and Brooklyn, along with spots in D.C., Las Vegas and Toronto — has also added the ChocoPretzel-Dulce Quake to its MilkQuakes lineup. It’s chocolate pretzel soft serve blended with butterscotch chips, pretzels, dulce de leche sauce and fudge. And for those looking to indulge without overdoing the calories, this sweets chain that’s part of the Manhattan-based Momofuku restaurant group now offers the BabyShake and BabyQuake — mini versions of its shakes and Quakes. The new 5-ounce sizes launched last Tuesday.
