Touro College’s New York School of Career and Applied Studies

-

Every weekend golfer knows what it means to “take a ‘Mulligan.’” Because you are nervous on the first tee, you mishit your shot — and so you try it again. Sometimes the same thing happens with a student’s choice of college. For one reason or another, students may not be happy with the colleges they have chosen to attend. Perhaps they are too big; too far from home; the programs they offer are not appropriate for their career choices; or they just want a different educational environment. It happens all the time. More often than not, the solution is to transfer to another school.

At Touro College’s New York School of Career and Applied Studies (NYSCAS), we think of ourselves as part of the solution you youy are looking for.for Why? Well,W one key reason is that we u understand transfer students and are eager to welcome them to the Touro family.

From the moment you arrive at one of our seven sites throughout New York City, you’ll begin to feel more relaxed than you might have anticipated. That’s one reason why we are known as “The College with the Personal Touch.” First, you’ll meet with an admissions counselor who will introduce you to the broad range of options available at NYSCAS. You’ll find out about our programs in fields such as business, human services, psychology, computer science, digital multimedia design, and many others. You’ll learn about pre-medical and prelaw course sequences and discover how they can help prepare you if you’re thinking of applying to medical school or considering a career asa a physician assistant,t physical or occupationalc therapist, oro are interested in law.la Expect to cover a lot of ground as you discoverd the many benefitsb of transferringr to NYSCAS.

All transfer stud dents want to know what will hap happen to the credits they earned at their previous institutions. Well, be assured that your transcript will be carefully evaluated and, where there’s a clear match, you’ll receive credit for specific Touro courses. But don’t worry: If a course you’ve taken elsewhere doesn’t match a specific Touro course, with certain limitations, you’ll be awarded “blanket” or generalized credit in a given subject or field. You may be able to use those “blanket” credits to satisfy elective course requirements in a degree program.

You can also meet with a financial aid counselor to discuss how to continue financing your education in a way that best fits your budget and needs. Our counselors bring years of training and experience to this process, so they’ll equip you with the most current information on what’s available, as you go about making critical decisions.

At NYSCAS, we’re justifiably proud of the number of transfer students that join our educational family. Like all Touro students, they’re taught by a faculty that brings to the classroom both theoretical and years of real-world experience in their fields, ensuring you the best preparation as you make your own career decisions. Classes are small, so the attention you can expect from your instructors is individualized and personal.

Then there’s the convenience of being a student at NYSCAS. Our seven sites in New York City are each near mass transportation. We offer morning, afternoon, evening and even weekend classes to fit your busy schedules. You’ll find that many of your classmates are employed full-time, are raising families and are full-time students. No surprise: NYSCAS has been designed as a college that can accommodate students who lead very busy lives.

There aren’t all that many times when you get a “do-over” in life, but in college education, it certainly is possible. At NYSCAS, we want to help you succeed in college and want you to feel good about where you go to school. NYSCAS students are secure in the knowledge that there is always someone onsite to counsel them, listen to their problems, if need be, and help them navigate the bumps in the road that college students inevitably encounter. We’re with you all the way, from beginning to end, so you won’t lose sleep wondering if you’ll have to do this all alone. That doesn’t happen — not at NYSCAS.

Why not come into one of our sites and take a tour of our facilities? Check out our modern computer labs, science labs and “smart classrooms.” We are constantly updating and improving the ways in which students learn using advanced technology, and you can be a part of it. It’s easy, really. Give us a call at 1-888-3347992, and make an appointment with one of our counselors. Or, if it’s easier for you, just drop by. We’re here at your convenience and would be happy to spend as much time with you as you need to show you that NYSCAS is the right choice for you.

All this is part of being the “College With the Personal Touch” — come join us today.
