Rutgers tops Army at buzzer

MYLES MACK hit a 3-pointer from the top of the arc with 3.5 seconds left to give Rutgers a 75-72 victory over Army (3-7) on Sunday in Piscataway.

Mack had 18 points and seven assists for the Knights (6-7). Wally Judge had 16 points and seven rebounds, D’Von Campbell added 12 points and Junior Etou grabbed 11 boards.

A 3-pointer from sophomore Kyle Wilson (career-high 29 points) tied the game at 72-72 with :34 left. Rutgers did not call timeout, Jerome Seagears found Mack two feet behind the arc and the guard drained it.

Freshman guard Jaren Sina scored 14 points and handed out eight assists and Eugene Teague scored 15 of his 16 points in the second half, powering Seton Hall (8-4) to a 92-70 victory over Eastern Washington (5-5) in Newark.

Shabazz Napier scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half and grabbed six rebounds to lead No. 10 Connecticu­t (10-1) to an 82-70 victory over Washington (6-5) in Seattle.

Jameel Warney scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead host Stony Brook (9-4) to a 76-54 win over Cornell (0-11). Deonte Burton scored 20 points and had six assists to help host Nevada (5-7) beat Iona (5-5), 80-72, despite 22 points (six 3-pointers) from A.J. English.

Tricia Liston scored a season-high 28 points to help the No. 2 Duke women beat No. 5 Kentucky, 69-61, before 23,706 at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

THUNDER FALLS AT HOME

Kyle Lowry scored 22 points, making a pair of clinching free throws with 9.8 seconds left, and the Raptors handed the Thunder its first home loss after 13 wins, 104-98. Toronto outscored OKC 6-0 in the final 1:25, all from the foul line, and ended the Thunder’s nine-game win streak despite 27 points from Russell Westbrook and 24 from Kevin Durant.

LIGETY THIRD, BODE OUT

In Alta Badia, Italy, two-time defending overall World Cup champion Marcel Hirscher won his second straight giant slalom, with American Ted Ligety 0.41 finishing third. Another American, Tim Jitloff, was fifth, his best finish ever, while compatriot Bode Miller failed to advance from the first run, comin in 40th. n In Val D’Isere, France, Tina Wierather of Liechtenst­ein protected her lead from the first run to win a women’s World Cup giant slalom and make it back-to-back GS victories. American Julia Mancuso did not finish the second run.
