MARCIK, LAWRENCE J.

Lawrence J. “Larry” Marcik, Sr. of New Haven died Thursday April 15, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to his high school sweetheart, Marian Stetson Marcik. Larry was born in New Haven August 11, 1933 son of the late Joseph Marcik and Mary Piasecki Marcik Testory and the late Joseph Testory. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and then was stationed at the U. S. Naval Station in Brunswick, ME on assignment in Keflavic Iceland from 1954-55, working as a crew chief on P2V Neptune. He was an equipment operator in the construction business with his father at Joseph Testory & Son for over 40 years. Larry was an avid polka dancer and instructor and was a drummer in the Polka Bee band. He rode for years with the Guilford motorcycle club known as the “Shoreline Club.” He was a member of the Branford Yacht Club where he loved to go tuna and shark fishing on the weekends with his friends Bob Flanagan, Bill Rompe and Teddy Novak. In addition to the yacht club, Larry was a member of American Legion Post 83 in Branford and the VFW Post in Branford and a former member of Pier 66 marina. Besides Marian, Larry is survived by his children, Linda Marcik Ghiroli (Thomas) of Branford and Lawrence J. Marcik, Jr. (Karen) of Guilford; his grandchildren, Lindsey Ghiroli Bertholet (Joseph), Jennifer Ghiroli Boggiatto (Aldo), Christopher Ghiroli, Wesley Marcik (Magdalena); and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Blake, Giavanna, Cody and Aldo. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Raymond Ghiroli, daughter-in-law Sharon Marcik and granddaughter Colleen Marcik. His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford Wednesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford.
