Renovated lab opens
Outpatient lab features enhanced patient privacy and comfort
After several weeks of construction, the newly renovated outpatient lab and patient registrationarea atmidmichiganmedical Center — Gratiot is now open at the West entrance of the campus.
According to a press release from Midmichigan Health, the renovation included creating a more open space and larger waiting area, new décor and seating designed to enhance patient privacy and comfort, as well as an improved greeter’s desk for staff to welcome and assist patients and visitors.
“While the need to renovate our existing space was realized prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the urgency to create a space for our patients to be able to safely socially distance while waiting to be seen is more important than
ever,” said Marita HattemSchiffman, president, MidMichigan Medical Centers in Clare, Gratiot and Mt. Pleasant. “Now, patients will able to wait in a larger, safe, warm and welcoming space.”
In addition to the renovation of the lab and waiting area, the Anticoagulation Clinic was moved into the Medical Center in an area adjacent to Patient Registration near the West entrance. The vacated space will be renovated for physicianswhowill join themedical Center’s teamin the future.
“These improvements, combined with a state- ofthe-art MRI unit installed in August, are examples of Midmichigan Health’s continued commitment to provide excellent care,” concluded Hattem-schiffman.
Midmichigan Medical Center — Gratiot offers outpatient laboratory services 24-hours per day, seven days a week. While walk-ins are still welcome, patients are strongly encouraged to schedule their appointment online at www.midmichigan.org/ gratiotlab for faster service and improved social distancing.
