1. “Five Guys Named Moe”

The Skylight Music Theatre’s production of the musical tribute to jump-blues legend Louis Jordan opens Friday at the Cabot Theatre in the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway. The production runs through Feb. 10.

Riverwest’s venerable cultural institutio­n Woodland Pattern Book Center hosts its 25th annual poetry marathon — 15 hours of poetry readings, with sponsors pledging at least $35 on the readers’ behalf — starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the bookstore, 720 E. Locust St. Proceeds support Woodland’s programmin­g in literature and the arts. Admission is $10, free for anyone who pledges $35 or more.

Waukesha’s annual winter-fest starts with an opening ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday in Lowell Park on Michigan Ave. The three-day festival has activities ranging from ice sculpting and ice skating to a beer garden and a 350foot lighted toboggan run dubbed the Arctic Avalanche (warning: don’t drink and sled, people). Admission is free for most doings at the Janboree, which is held in multiple locations around the city of Waukesha; check the website for details.

re:Craft and Relic, the juried craft/vintage marketplac­e, is back this weekend at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex, 6000 W. Ryan Road, Franklin. Check out everything from artwork to architectu­ral salvage to jewelry from 150 vendors at the event, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission at the door is $7, free for kids 12 and younger. 5. ‘Expedition Unknown’s’ Josh Gates

The host of the Travel Channel adventure series “Expedition Unknown” (and before that, Syfy’s “Destinatio­n Truth”) will set up camp onstage Friday at 8 p.m. at Uihlein Hall at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 929 N. Water St. His live show, “Josh Gates Live: An Evening of Ghosts, Monsters and Tales of Adventure,” is sort of an extreme travelogue, with tales of mystery and imaginatio­n from places even cable TV won’t travel to. Tickets start at $39.
