Chiefs, Jones reach 5-year deal

- Field Level Media

Chris Jones has signed a five-year contract with the Chiefs, sources confirmed to The Kansas

City Star.

The deal includes a $95 million guarantee, making Jones the highest-paid defensive lineman in NFL history.

The deal keeps one of the game’s top defensive players in Kansas City. He was a key player in the Chiefs’ second straight Super Bowl victory, over the San Francisco 49ers last month.

A year ago, Jones looked to sign a longterm deal, but that didn’t come about. He signed a one-year deal with incentives and turned in another stellar season, totaling 101/2 sacks and making All-Pro for the second straight year and the Pro Bowl for a fifth consecutive season.

Jones, 29, selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft from Mississippi State, has 75.5 career sacks and has won three Super Bowl rings.
