THURSDAY’S BEST PICKS

-

1:30 PM (GOLF) 2022 Bridgestone Senior Players Championship The fourth major on the 2022 Senior Tour gets going today at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, home of the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship. Steve Stricker survived some sloppy play early in the final round to fire a 2-under 70 and finish six strokes ahead of defending champ Jerry Kelly, in the process becoming just the third wire-to-wire winner in tournament history.

8PM * Press Your Luck Elizabeth Banks returns for her fourth season as host of this ABC reboot of a vintage 30-minute game show that ran from 1983 to 1986 as part of CBS daytime lineup. The main tweak for this current hourlong primetime version is the addition of a bonus round that features the champion from the first rounds playing against the Whammy, an annoying animated critter that can rob the player of cash and prizes.

8PM (SHO) MOVIE The Souvenir Part II Writer-director Joanna Hogg’s 2021 sequel to her critically acclaimed (and semi-autobiographical) 2019 coming-of-age drama “The Souvenir” received accolades on its own terms, picking up the story as aspiring filmmaker Julie (Honor Swinton Byrne) tries to cope with the death of her older lover Anthony (played by Tom Burke in the original film) from a heroin overdose. As she seeks closure from that complicated relationship, she finds her own artistic voice behind the camera. Tilda Swinton, Richard Ayoade, Harris Dickinson and Joe Alwyn co-star.

8:55 PM (HBO) MOVIE Old Adapted from a French-language Swiss graphic novel, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan’s 2021 thriller revolves around guests at a tropical resort who discover they can’t escape their location despite the fact that they are aging rapidly on this secluded beach. The ensemble cast, which includes Gael Garcia Bernal, Rufus Sewell, Vicky Krieps, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Ken Leung, spent three months filming in the Dominican Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic. As with many other Shyamalan films, this one polarized critics, but turned out to be a box-office success.

9PM * Generation Gap Kelly Ripa is host for this new comedy quiz show from mega-producer Mark Burnett (“Survivor”) and talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel. Each episode pairs teams of grandparents and grandkids, who are challenged to answer questions about pop culture shows, movies, music and personalities from each other’s generations. 9:30 PM (TCM) MOVIE A Woman Rebels Director Mark Sandrich’s

1936 historical drama adapted from a 1930 novel finds Katharine Hepburn at the top of her form as Englishwoman Pamela Thistlewaite, who fearlessly confronts the sexist and sanctimonious social mores of Victorian England. The film, which also marks the screen debut of Van Heflin, was Hepburn’s third box-office flop in a row on its initial release, but now is considered the epitome of the feminist characterizations she presented in the 1930s. The rarely seen film airs tonight in a line-up of star-driven vehicles.

10 PM (WE) Terror Lake Drive Hoping to escape her troubled past, a single mother takes her headstrong teenage son and leaves the protective shelter of her mother’s Baltimore home to start a new life in Atlanta. Unfortunately, as this new thriller unfolds its first season, she’ll learn that some problems can’t be left behind. Shannon Kane, Malik Yoba, Donielle T. Hansley

Jr. and Lamman Rucker star.

10 PM (FREE) Good Trouble In a new

episode called “What I Wouldn’t Give for Love,” a nervous Davia (Emma Hunton) finally summons enough courage to tell Dennis (Josh Pence) about her true feelings for him. Meanwhile, Malika (Zuri Adele) struggles to accept that Angelica (Yasmine Aker) is seeing other people, and Alice (Sherry Cola) hires a new manager. Elsewhere, the FCG throws a party to celebrate the launch of their app, and Luca (Booboo Stewart) considers accepting Davia’s offer of a home.
