Churches say, ‘Come here’; Scripture says, ‘Go there.’

- By Kitty Collingsworth

We celebrated the birth of Christ, our Lord and Savior, as we gathered to worship on Christmas Eve morning at Mill Creek Baptist Church.

James Hampton, Abby Lett, and Mitchell Lett were celebrating birthdays. Several names were lifted up in prayer for God’s healing, and prayers of comfort were offered up for the Don Underwood family. Doug Cory greeted the congregation, and we welcomed several visitors.

Rick Lett taught the adult Sunday school class as we studied “The First Christmas,” with scripture readings from Luke 2:1-15. Tyrel Lett and Mitchell Lett served as offertory ushers, and Susan Cory and Karen Gardner led the congregational Christmas hymns.

We were blessed to have Brock Gill and his wife Auny with us to share their adventures as they spread the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. They have been to thirty countries.

They told us, “Our methods have changed over the years, but our mission has stayed the same: to bring hope to the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’ve seen over 70,000 people come to know Jesus over the last 25 years, but we’re more excited than we’ve ever been about the mission He’s called us to do.

Through unique adventure experiences and weekly YouTube episodes, people are coming to know Jesus and taking steps towards Him. Many of these people would never hear the gospel otherwise and are not churched. The world is dark, but God is on the move. The church says, ‘Come here,’ and the scripture says, ‘Go there.’”

They take the gospel to people who would never go to church. “Getting outside of the box to reach those outside of the church” is their mission.” You can check out some of Brock’s trail bike adventures on YouTube, visit their website “brockgillcreative.com” or visit their Facebook page. Auny has also written a book about their adventures on the mission trail called “Thrill Ride.” Their mission is an adventure, inspiring, and a work led by God. We are so blessed to have had them share it with us.

After the service, there were Christmas treats for everyone. We invite you to begin the new year in worship, and we invite you to join us at Mill Creek Baptist Church, located 3 1/2 miles east of Noel, just off Highway 90. Sunday morning service begins at 11 and Sunday school at 10. Bible study is held on Wednesday evenings at 6:30. We wish everyone all of God’s greatest blessings in 2024.
