Historical Society Benefit A Grand Success
The McDonald County Historical Society had a sold out banquet crowd who loves their old courthouse and wants their history to be preserved.
The benefit was held Saturday.
The Historical Society thanks the many folks and businesses who supported this annual event and fundraiser.
Benefit sponsors were Claudine Doherty, Paul Lewis, Arvest Bank of Anderson and Noel, First Community Bank, and Four State Printing. Table sponsors were Glen Carden, Sam Alps, Judy Duncan, Al and Pat Chapman, Rodney and Margarett Mitchell, John and Casey Poyner, Jim Tatum, Alice Snodgrass, Bill and Jane Lant, Karen and Bill Dobbs, Luap and LaSandra McKeever, Kathy and Kenny Underwood, Jim and Faith Armstrong, Cornerstone Bank, Janice Melton, Judy Rickett, Rose Stauber, Jeannine Wolff and Paul Lewis. A special thanks is extended to the Historical Society partners who donated dollars and/or items for the auctions.
An entertaining and educational portrayal of Roberta Fulbright of Fayetteville, Ark., mother of U.S. Sen. J. William Fulbright, was presented by Sondra Torchia. Auctioneer Brett Lewis kept the crowd laughing.
More than 200 people attended the benefit at River Ranch Resort in Noel. This is an example of how one rural Ozark county has come together to save their old courthouse and is working to preserve their history and heritage for future generations.
