Dec. 24, 1932 March 28, 2017 Virginia Perkins Mullin, 84, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Goodman, Mo ., died on Tuesday evening, March 28, 2 0 1 7, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, after a recent decline in health. She was born Dec 24, 1932, in Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of the late Ira Ervan and Florence May (Crumpton) Perkins.

She lived in Cokeville, Wyo., until her senior year in high school when she moved to John Day, Ore., graduating in 1952, from Grant Union High School. On March 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Tommy Troy Mullin Sr. and to this union five children were born. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in various teaching and leadership callings, including serving a mission in Stockton, Calif., in 1997. She received her Bachelor’s in Secondary Education in 1985 and taught English at Crowder College and McDonald County High School. She enjoyed painting and sculpture, genealogy, puzzles, gardening, and reading. She could usually be found with a book in hand. Her greatest joy was her family and friends, and was always happy to visit with anyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy Mullin Sr. on Feb. 23, 1983; a daughter, Shannon Mullin Keating; and seven siblings, Richard, Elaine, Melvin, Gilbert, Ruth, Reid, and Gerald.

She is survived by her four children, Patricia Mullin of Kansas City, Mo., Tommy Troy Mullin Jr. of Noel, Mo., Nina May Gibson and husband, Randy, of Kansas City and Ruth Emily Atkinson and husband, Eric, of Joplin; five grandchild­ren; five great- grandchild­ren; two brothers, Glenn Perkins of Pocatello, Idaho, and George Perkins of Keller, Wash.; sister, Marie Paddock of Sequim, Wash.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Monday, April 3, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bishop Duersch officiatin­g. Burial followed in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearer­s were Derek Wieberg, Randy Gibson, Eric Atkinson, John Mullin, Paul Gardner, and Jason Hackett.

The family received friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
