A 29-year-old Marysville man was sentenced to four years and four months in prison after he pleaded no contest to charges of evading police, driving under the influence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Alfredo Dominguez was arrested Dec. 7, 2017, following a 12-mile vehicle chase and a short pursuit on foot by the California Highway Patrol.

Officers attempted to stop Dominguez for an expired registration, however Dominguez allegedly fled, committing numerous violations along the way, including driving down the wrong side of the road, speeding and running multiple stop signs, according to court documents.

After the vehicle chase, Dominguez allegedly attempted to flee the scene on foot but was taken into custody a short time later. His vehicle was searched and a loaded firearm was reportedly found on the driver side floorboard. Dominguez also reportedly displayed signs of alcohol and drug intoxication at the time of his arrest.

Dominguez was charged with attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly, felony evasion, a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, taking a vehicle without consent by the owner, providing a false identity to police, driving on a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property.

However, as part of a stipulated resolution with the court and prosecution, Dominguez only pleaded no contest to three charges and the rest were dropped.

Yuba County Superior Court Judge Julia Scrogin sentenced Dominguez to another year and eight months for violating parole on two prior cases from 2015, bringing his prison sentence to six years total. Once released, he will serve three years of parole.
