Ashby paces Sutter runners

The Sutter High cross country team was one of 95 schools to compete at the Capital Cross Challenge at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento on Saturday morning.

Sophomore Mia Ashby led the Huskies’ girls varsity team, setting a personal best and recording the fastest time in the North Section this season by timing in at 19 minutes, 27 seconds over the 3.1-mile course. Ashby placed 13th of 286 runners overall and was first in Division IV.

Marisa McKenzie (30th, 20:19), Megan Matteoli (81st, 21:39), Reagan Ford (144th, 22:51) and Michaela Brantingha­m (164th, 23:19) rounded out the scoring five for Sutter, which took 14th overall and second in the smallschoo­l division.

Leading the way for the Huskies’ varsity boys team was sophomore Bailey Rockholt, who was 40th out of 367 runners with a time of 18:03. Cody Rodgers (44th, 18:13), Addison Hick (86th, 19:11), Braedyn Hick (99th) and Joey Martin (115th, 19:57) completed the scoring five as Sutter took 14th in the smallschoo­l division.

In all, Sutter saw all 11 of its athletes set personal bests by at least 1 minute at the meet. MEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER
