Wuthnow’s clutch shot keys Drake to a victory

Jack Wuthnow’s seventh 3-pointer of the game forced overtime and the Drake High boys basketball team went on to edge Terra Linda 55-52 on Friday night.

Wuthnow finished with 21 points to pace Drake and his final 3-pointer of the night tied it at 51-51. Casey Borgonovo added 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Charles Preston scored 10 points and had eight rebounds.

TL was paced by Jack Brody and Jake Sasaki who scored 16 points apiece.

• Brandon Flick scored 15 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists to lead Novato to a 49-37 victory against San Rafael on Friday night. Andrew Li and Gavin Cameron scored nine and eight points, respective­ly. Brett Huser had six points, six rebounds and five assists.

• AJ Rohosy had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Marin Catholic to a 62-44 win over

Marin Academy on Saturday. Kyle Winters had 12 points and Lucq Anderson did a bit of everything with six points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

• Marin Catholic overcame a slow start and rallied for a 46-39 win against Tam on Friday. MC trailed 16-4 after the first quarter but outscored Tam 42-23 the rest of the way. Nick Greenwood had 17 points and four steals for the Wildcats. Winters had 17 points and three steals. Tam was paced by Oskar Fulton’s 13 points.

• Aleksa Milentijev­ic scored 34 points as San Domenico fell 65-46 against University on Friday. Jimmy Hoagland chipped in with eight points for the Panthers.

Girls basketball

Terra Linda got balanced scoring to squeeze out a 37-33 win against Drake on Friday. Joelle Jones paced the Trojans with eight points while Kia Lash, Bridget Boyle and Aislinn McKelvey scored six each.

Girls volleyball

Wesley Slavin piled up 33 assists in three sets as Tam swept by El Molino, 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 on Saturday. Slavin added eight digs and six aces for the Red-tailed Hawks. Olivia Smith had 19 kills and nine digs and Caitlin Smith had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.

Prep track

Tam’s Caden Carney finished 12th in the open 1-mile with a time of 4 minutes, 22.39 seconds at the Arcadia Invitation­al on Saturday. His teammate, Tomoki Scharber took 19th in 4:26.50.

Marin Catholic’s Kaleb Carpenter placed 16th in the open 300-meter hurdles in 42.52 seconds.

Tam’s boys relay team (Thomas Sternfels, Hector Lyko, Ethan Lin, Scharber and Carney) placed 11th in the open 4,000 meters. Tam’s girls relay team of Emma Dunmire, Yasha Zink, Alana Concannon and Brianna McInnis placed eighth in the 4,000.

Boys soccer

Three different players scored as Marin Academy opened its season with a 3-1 victory against LickWilmer­ding on Friday. Andrew Notter opened the scoring in the 11th minute, assisted by Aiden Aley. Lick tied the game in the 30th minute but MA seized control with second-half goals by Malcom Zalayet and Alex Marmalejo — assisted by Owen Swagel and Zalayet, respective­ly.

Girls soccer

Halle Hanna set up both goals as Marin Academy picked up a seasonopen­ing 2-0 win against Lick-Wilmerding on Friday. Chloe Swindle put the Wildcats in front in the 13th minute and Alex Bergholt doubled the advantage in the 68th minute.
