Beavers, Knights colliding for top playoff seed, No.1
GLEN ROSE — The powerhouse 3A Glen Rose Beavers are ready for their huge matchup this Friday hosting the unbeaten Centerpoint Knights for the conference showdown of the week.
Friday’s kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Beaver Stadium.
The Beavers are journeying back to the Beaver Dam as an unbeaten team in conference play. It’s senior night Friday in Glen Rose, and head coach Mark Kehner knows his Beavers are ready to grind it out against the Knights.
In the past, the Beavers and Centerpoint have had some huge and competitive showdowns on the gridiron. But, the Beavers have taken care of business to prove they’re on another level of execution against the Knights.
Kehner mentioned that this game has been competitive and Centerpoint played them tough. But, he feels his Beavers’ confidence level is high and they are ready to go out and provide that powerhouse physicality of aggression and stout play on the field.
“Friday should be a fun game,” Kehner said. “I feel good about it and we’ve prepared the kids to go out there and take the opportunity to compete.”
“We’re both undefeated in conference and a win can guarantee a number one spot for the playoffs,” Kehner noted.
The Knights are a spread andwing-t team offensively, Kehner said. The strength in the Knight’s execution is their running back—who plays both ways. Kehner noted that the Beavers must stop the Knights’ running game, but he feels Glen Rose is in good shape to execute in this big match-up.
The Beavers have taken out their opponents in league play thus far and aim to clinch the conference title for a number one seed in the 3A state football playoffs.
As a successful traditional football program under the guidance of Kehner, the Beavers have been a postseason caliber team during his reign as head coach. The Beavers look to go deep in the playoffs and once again, display a stout performance on the gridiron at Beaver Stadium.
