Horse writer Wilson, 71, dies

Art Wilson, a longtime Southern California horse racing writer, died on Sunday morning of heart failure in Apple Valley. He was 71.

Wilson spent most of his 52-year career at the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, which later became part of the Southern California Newspaper Group.

Despite having a rare form of myeloma, kidney disease and congestive heart failure he worked until his death.
