Cowboys’ Romo will miss rest of season

-

Tony Romo knew he was risking another left collarbone injury by coming back eight weeks after breaking it.

The Dallas quarterback won’t have to worry about another return. He’s out for the season this time. Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones said on his radio show Friday that Romo would sit out the remaining five games with a small fracture in the same collarbone that had already sidelined him for seven games.

Romo will not need surgery after getting hurt in the third quarter of Thursday’s loss to Carolina. It’s the third fracture in Romo’s nonthrowing shoulder in his nineyear career as the Dallas starter.

Bills’ Williams is out for season

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams will undergo surgery on his left knee and miss the rest of the season.

Williams said he will need surgery for a meniscus injury. The 10-year veteran has been out since suffering the injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6.

Williams, 32, hoped to play through the injury, but was not making progress after six weeks of rest.

Revis still dealing with concussion

Cornerback Darrelle Revis will not play in the New York Jets’ game against the Miami Dolphins because he is still dealing with a concussion. He remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and must be cleared by doctors before he can practice with the team.

“He’s doing a little better each day,” Coach Todd Bowles said, “but not well enough for physical activity.”

Revis was injured during the Jets’ loss at Houston last Sunday and has not practiced since. Bowles said the star cornerback comes to the facility for treatment in the morning and then is sent home. Manziel may not be activated

Johnny Manziel’s demotion might include him not suiting up for the game.

Browns Coach Mike Pettine said he hasn’t decided whether Manziel, who was stripped of his starting job this week, will be active for Monday night’s matchup against Baltimore.

Manziel was downgraded from starter to third string when a video surfaced of him partying during Cleveland’s bye week in an Austin, Texas, club.

Etc.

Colts Coach Chuck Pagano made it official: Andrew Luck and left tackle Anthony Castonzo will miss Sunday’s game. Luck will miss his second straight game with a lacerated kidney and partially torn abdominal muscle. Castonzo will miss his first game since 2011 with a sprained right medial collateral ligament. . . . DeMarcus Ware’s lower back injury will keep him out of the Denver Broncos’ showdown with the New England Patriots. . . . Washington Redskins starting cornerback Chris Culliver is heading to injured reserve after tearing ligaments in his right knee. . . . The Bengals activated rookie offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi and put cornerback Darqueze Dennard on a season-ending injury list with a separated shoulder.
