SUNDAY

National Geographic Channel launches two nights of doom and gloom with the specials “Omens of the Apocalypse: The End is Near,” “2012: Countdown to Armageddon — The End is Near” and “Evacuate Earth.” You have been warned. (7, 8 and 9 p.m.)

MONDAY

Before Lindsay Lohan, before Shirley Temple even, there was Diana Serra Cary — née Peggy-Jean Montgomery, pint-sized child star from the silent film-era — and she tells her own story in “Baby Peggy, the Elephant in the Room.” ( TCM, 5 and 8:30 p.m.)

Like your tinsel with a little twang? The new special “Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas” finds the country crooner and co-star of “The Voice,” above, sharing the stage with the likes of original “American Idol” Kelly Clarkson. ( NBC, 10 p.m.)

TUESDAY

Clad, scantily: Assorted supermodels risk pneumonia or worse when they hit the runway in next to nothing on the latest edition of “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” which includes performances by Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber. (CBS, 10 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY

In my family, we always called our grandmother “Grammy.” And yet, her name never comes up at “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! — Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night,” hosted by LL Cool J and Taylor Swift.

(CBS, 10 p.m.)

THURSDAY

To get that perfect picture, it takes the right photographer, the right clothes on the right model — and a fashion editor to pull it all together. These unsung heroes of the magazine world are saluted in the new doc “In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye.” ( HBO, 9 p.m.)

FRIDAY

It’s the 10th annual Video Game Awards — or “VGA Ten” for those of you with short attention spans. Samuel L. Jackson emcees the proceedings at this ceremony honoring the year’s top titles. Linkin Park and Tenacious D perform. (Spike, 9 p.m.) The volume of suggestive and often sexually explicit content in today’s popular culture (see Tuesday), and its effects on the psyches of a generation of girls and young women, are examined in the provocative new documentary “Sexy Baby.” (10 p.m., Showtime)

SATURDAY

An exceptional equine is at the heart of Steven Spielberg’s 2010 WWI epic “War Horse,” Greg Kinnear is on “Thin Ice” in a noir-ish 2011 comedy, and Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston, below, join a kooky commune in the 2012 comedy “Wanderlust.” (Showtime, 8 p.m.; Starz, 9 p.m., Cinemax, 10 p.m.)
