Tokay’s win helps Lodi’s playoff chances

Kayly Pau had a big day for the Tokay High softball team, which posted a 13-3 win over Lincoln in a Tri-City Athletic League game at Arnaiz Softball Complex in Morada on Wednesday.

A sophomore, Pau clubbed a home run. That contribute­d toward her 5 RBIs in the game. She went 2-for-3.

Behind Pau in hitting for Tokay (2-8-1 in the TCAL, 9-9-1) was Simone Medeiros, who went 3-for-5, and Aliah Cisneros, 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs. Sydney Giovannoni, along with Tokay teammates Mia Misasi, Hallie Beadles and Annika Hauschidt, had two hits each for the Tigers, who had 18 hits in the game. Misasi had 2 RBIs and winning pitcher Arianna Lozano at one.

The win over Lincoln (4-7 in the TCAL, 6-8) helps Lodi (7-5 in the TCAL, 9-11) in battling for the league’s four playoff spots. Tracy (12-0 in the TCAL, 17-3) and St. Mary’s (8-3, 12-3) are currently in the Nos. 1 and 2 spots respective­ly. Tokay has beaten Lincoln two of their three meetings, all this month.

Johnna Schroeder, Shelby Katzakan and Danielle Pfenning had two hits each for Lodi in Wednesday’s TCAL game. Pfenning and Ashlee Toy had two RBIs each for the Flames, who had 11 hits in the game.

Belen Espinoza doubled for the Tigers, who only had five hits in Wednesday’s game. Natalie Nord had two of those hits, while teammates Lily Cadena and Karen Nateras had one each.

Kody Lunde and Adam Lima carded a 46 each for Liberty Ranch (3-6 in the Sierra Valley Conference) at the Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course in Galt. Jaycob Rocha and Isaac Lima had a 49 each for the Hawks, while Jesus Cuevas had a 58 and Seth Kress 68.
