FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGES ON TAP

Tokay play showcase at Edison today, while Hawks at Bear Creek

Two of the four Lodi area high school football teams will take part in controlled scrimmages today.

Tokay makes the trek to Stockton to compete in a round-robin showcase at Edison. The Tigers will play East Union of Manteca, Atwater and host Edison. The scrimmages are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

On the north side of Stockton, Liberty Ranch will play at Bear Creek. The visiting Hawks will take on the Bruins at 6 p.m.

Lodi and Galt will play a combined six teams in round-robin scrimmages on Saturday. Journeying to the west side of Stockton, Lodi faces Franklin and Linden at Weston Ranch. The Flames and the other teams are slated to go at 6 p.m.

Galt makes the drive into the foothills to play at Bret Harte. The Warriors will face Ripon Christian, Golden Sierra and host Bret Harte that is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Next Friday, Aug. 25, Tokay and Liberty Ranch will kick-off Week 0 with non-league games. Tokay plays at Heritage of Brentwood, and Liberty Ranch takes on River City of West Sacramento.

On Friday, Sept. 1, Lodi welcomes Sonora to the Grape Bowl. Galt aboard a bus and goes south on Highway 99 to play at Ripon.

Previews of the Lodi, Tokay, Galt and Liberty Ranch football teams, plus Lodi and Tokay varsity fall sports teams, will be in the News-Sentinel’s fall sports tab that will be published next Friday.
