Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s intimate, hush-hush wedding ceremony

From the moment Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began dating over a year ago, they’ve kept a low profile. They’ve steered clear of high-profile events and public appearances, preferring to spend time together off the beaten path, like their recent three-week trip to Africa to mark Meghan’s 36th birthday. “One of the things Harry learned from his mother, Princess Diana,” says a source, “is that remaining as low-key as possible is the key to a happy relationship.”
His wedding will be no different. Harry, 32, and Meghan have yet to officially announce an engagement, but multiple insiders tell Life & Style they’re planning a secret marriage! “Harry is adamant about having an intimate ceremony with just his and Meghan’s closest friends and family,” says the source. That, well, suits the Suits star just fine. Meghan, who’s deeply involved in charity work, “feels there’s too much excess in the world and would not want to waste money on a glamorous event,” shares a friend of the couple. Though there’s pressure on any member of the royal family to have a huge, public wedding, “it’s not like Harry’s ever going to be king,” notes the pal. “He just feels a small wedding with friends would mean so much more.”
ROMANTIC DETAILS REVEALED
Guests should keep December wide open! Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrate their 70th anniversary on Nov. 20, and Harry “would not do anything to overshadow that out of respect for his grandmother,” the friend says. “But a small wedding shortly after that would be ideal.” The couple are leaning toward the Caribbean, says the source, especially Jamaica (where they attended a friend’s wedding in March) and Richard Branson’s secluded Necker Island. Meghan is torn on a dress — looking at British designers including Antonio Berardi and Burberry — but she’s picked her maid of honor, and it’s not future sister-in-law Kate Middleton. “She plans to ask her best friend, [ Quantico actress] Priyanka Chopra,” says the source. But Kate and Prince William’s kids, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, will definitely play a role: “Harry adores his niece and nephew,” the source says,“and so does Meghan.” If it were up to Harry, they’d truly elope. “He’d run off with Meghan and tie the knot on a remote beach,” says the friend. But that’s not an option. “He’s duty-bound to ask the queen for permission,” says a courtier. And while the 91-year-old monarch is happy her grandson found love, “she still likes tradition,” says the courtier, “and she wants to be there!” To appease the queen, Harry may follow his small wedding with a larger ceremony in London at a later date, notes the courtier. As long as they don’t have to wait long. “He and Meghan are so in love,” says the friend. “They want to get on with it!”
The fan frenzy has been undeniable. Within minutes of Taylor Swift releasing “Look What You Made Me Do,” it skyrocketed to No. 1 on itunes. The accompanying video amassed a whopping 44 million views on Youtube just a day after it premiered at the MTV VMAS on Aug. 27. It’s continuing to cause quite a stir among Taylor’s famous peers, too. But not a good one. Life & Style has learned that the 27-yearold and her vicious single — which takes unflattering aim at Katy Perry, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Tom Hiddleston and others — have ignited Hollywood’s biggest war ever. And it shows no signs of ending, with a tsunami of revenge plots forming as celebs scramble to pick sides. “A new squad has formed of people who are anti-taylor,” reveals a source. “The whole situation is turning into a battle of the star squads!”
REVENGE SERVED COLD
Kim, 36, and Kanye, 40, have been on Taylor’s ( bleep) list since their 2016 feud over the rapper’s “Famous” lyrics. Now Kim and Kanye are ready to release “the rest of the infamous audio tape” that they say caught the singer in a lie, says an insider, as revenge for Taylor’s new biting lyrics and video. Protective mama Kris Jenner, 61, is also getting in on the act. “She wants to tear Taylor to shreds on Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” reveals the source. “Kris is positively fuming.” Katy, 32, also is done playing nice. While the pop star previously said she wanted to end the pair’s long feud, a confi-
dant shares that after Taylor’s latest attack, Katy is willing to reveal all the secrets she learned as Tay’s former BFF. And Taylor’s ex, Calvin Harris, 33, has become a close ally of Katy’s, says the source, with the two laughing at Taylor behind her back. Another rival, Nicki Minaj, 34, is already shading Taylor out in the open. After the new song premiered, the rapper (who quarreled with the songbird on Twitter in 2015) tweeted “be humble.”
Even outsiders want in on the team. On Aug. 26, Ashley Tisdale, 32, tweeted “music is supposed to bring us together,” seemingly aimed at Tay. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus, 24, is furious all of the hubbub will overshadow her own new album. Says the source, “She doesn’t want her thunder stolen!”
HER SQUAD’S GOALS
Taylor’s own squad is experiencing cracks. “Karlie Kloss and Lorde don’t like all the drama,” shares the source. “They want out.” But the loyalty of those still in the crew is strong. Selena Gomez, 25, is ready to defend her pal on Twitter and Instagram, says the friend: “She told Taylor she’s not going to hold back in interviews, either, even if it means dissing people.” And while Taylor has a revenge song in the can about Calvin, “Selena,” adds the friend, “is working on one about Katy.”
Pals Blake Lively, 30, Lena Dunham, 31, and Cara Delevingne, 25, are also firmly in Tay’s corner. Says the source, “They have her back.” And they better. Warns the friend: “Things are only going to get uglier!”
