Ohtani’s HRS help Dodgers sweep Braves

Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer and a solo shot as the host Los Angeles Dodgers beat Atlanta 5-1 on Sunday to cap a three-game sweep.

Ohtani’s 412-foot two-run blast to center came on a hanging curveball from Henderson resident Max Fried (2-1) in the first inning, and the twotime MVP added a 464-shot to left-center off left-hander A.J. Minter in the eighth for his 17th multihomer game and first with the Dodgers.

Teoscar Hernandez added a two-run homer to back James Paxton (4-0), who took a shutout into the seventh. The left-hander yielded one run on five hits over 6⅔ innings in his longest start since June 30 with Boston.

Marcell Ozuna homered for the Braves, who have lost five of their past six. Fried pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.

■ Phillies 5, Giants 4: At Philadelph­ia, Bryce Harper hit a go-ahead three-run homer and fellow Las Vegas native Bryson Stott an RBI double in Philadelph­ia’s four-run third, and Phillies won their fifth straight.

■ Rays 7, Mets 6: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jonny Deluca hit a walk-off two-run triple in the 10th after Randy Arozarena had a tying homer off New York closer Edwin Diaz with two outs in the ninth.

■ Rangers 3, Royals 2: At Kansas City, Mo., Nathaniel Lowe hit a go-ahead RBI single in the 10th after Texas teammate Jonah Heim had a go-ahead solo homer in the ninth.

■ Diamondbac­ks 11, Padres 4: At Phoenix, Ketel Marte and Joc Pederson each hit a two-run homer to help Basic High product Ryne Nelson (2-2) win in his injured list return.

■ Nationals 11, Blue Jays 8: At Washington, Jesse Winker hit a three-run homer, doubled and scored on Eddie Rosario’s homer that broke an 8-all tie in the seventh.

■ White Sox 5, Cardinals 1: At St. Louis, Eloy Jimenez hit a go-ahead homer in the Chicago seventh to back Garrett Crochet (2-4), who allowed one run in six innings.

■ Red Sox 9, Twins 2: At Minneapoli­s, Ceddanne Rafaela and Rafael Devers each hit a two-run homer for Boston, and Minnesota’s 12game win streak ended.

■ Orioles 11, Reds 1: At Cincinnati, Anthony Santander hit a grand slam to back UNLV product Dean Kremer (3-2), who allowed one hit in six shutout innings.

■ Guardians 4, Angels 1: At Cleveland, Jose Ramirez ended an 0-for-19 slump by capping a 10-pitch at-bat with a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth.

■ Marlins 12, Athletics 3: At Oakland, Calif., Nick Gordon ended a 1-for-21 slump with a 4-for4 showing that included a homer and three RBIS for Miami.

■ Mariners 5, Astros 4: At Houston, Cal Raleigh hit a tiebreakin­g solo homer on an 0-and2 pitch by Josh Hader (1-3) in the Seattle ninth.

■ Cubs 5, Brewers 0: At Chicago, Nico Hoerner hit a two-run double and scored to back Javier Assad (3-0), who pitched six shutout innings.

■ Yankees 5, Tigers 2: At New York, Juan Soto hit a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh in a game stopped by rain in the eighth.

■ Pirates 5, Rockies 3: At Pittsburgh, Oneil Cruz hit a go-ahead two-run homer in Pittsburgh’s four-run sixth.

■ Aviators 6, Aces 4: At Las Vegas Ballpark, Drew Lugbauer went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Aviators (16-17), who led 6-0 after seven innings. Aaron Brooks (1-5) shut out Reno (15-18) on four hits over six innings. The Aces had an 11-9 edge in hits.
