Haener, Fresno State hand San Diego State first defeat

CARSON, Calif. — Jake Haener passed for 306 yards and a touchdown, Jordan Mims rushed for 186 yards and two scores, and Fresno State dealt No. 21 San Diego State its first loss with a 30-20 victory Saturday.

The Bulldogs (7-2, 4-1 Mountain West) raced to a 20-0 second-quarter lead in their second win against a ranked team this season. Fresno State had 485 yards of offense, ending a 29-game streak by the Aztecs (7-1, 3-1) of holding opponents to fewer than 450 yards.

Haener completed 25 of 42 passes in his sixth 300-yard game this season. Mims, who had 97 first-half yards rushing, became the first running back this season to gain 100 yards against SDSU.

The Aztecs entered second nationally in third-down percentage defense, fourth in run defense and fifth in total defense. The Bulldogs converted nine of 18 third downs and went three-and-out only three times in 13 drives.

■ No. 25 Brigham Young 66, Virginia 49: At Provo, Utah, Tyler Allgeier ran for 266 yards and five TDS for the Cougars (7-2), who scored 21 points off three turnovers by the Cavaliers (6-3) and halted their four-game win streak. Jaren Hall threw for 349 yards and three TDS and ran for a score for BYU, which held a 734-588 edge in yards of offense.

■ Utah 44, UCLA 24: At Salt Lake City, Tavion Thomas ran for 160 yards and four TDS for the Utes (5-3, 4-1 Pac12), who notched their fifth straight win over the Bruins (5-4, 3-3). Freshman Ethan Garbers threw for 265 yards and two TDS for UCLA in his first start in place of injured Bishop Gorman product Dorian Thompson-robinson.

■ Washington 20, Stanford 13: At Stanford, Calif., wide receiver Jalen Mcmillan caught a 20-yard TD pass from Dylan Morris with 21 seconds left for the Huskies (3-2, 4-4 Pac-12), who had a season-best 229 yards rushing. Peyton Henry kicked four field goals for Washington. The Cardinal (2-4, 3-5) lost their third straight.
