TULSA—La Liga de Mujeres Votantes del área metropolitana de Tulsa realizará el 10 de marzo un foro de discusión y presentación de los candidatos al puesto de sheriff de la ciudad. El foro se realizará en el centro para la creatividad Thomas K. McKeon, en el Tulsa Community College y comenzará a las 18:30. Se invita a todo el público.
Vic Regalado ganó las primarias republicanas el 1ro de marzo, y se enfrentará el próximo 5 de abril al candidato demócrata Rex Berry. Ambos candidatos buscan llenar el sillón que tras una controversial renuncia dejó vacante el sheriff Stanley Glanz. El foro busca informar a los votantes sobre las características de cada candidato y su posición respecto a temas cruciales de la ciudad. La liga de mujeres votantes considera que los foros son un mecanismo vital a la hora de conseguir información libre de prejuicios previo a una elección.
El foro será conducido y moderado por el Tulsa Community College. The Frontier será el medio elegido para patrocinar el evento y su editor Ziva Branstetter, la moderadora. “La liga de mujeres votantes del área metropolitana de Tulsa está muy contenta de asociarse a TCC y a The Frontier para ofrecerle a los votantes la posibilidad de saber más sobre los candidatos que se postulan a sheriff”, dijo la presidenta de la organización Elizabeth Harris. “Después de lo que pasó con el sheriff de Tulsa los votantes demandan más información sobre los candidatos, algo que esperamos dar en este foro”.
“Parte de la misión del Tulsa Community College es ayudar a la comunidad enfatizando la importancia de la responsabilidad ciudadana", dijo Greg Stone, de TCC. “Esperamos presentar a los candidatos y escuchar de sus bocas los enfoques que tengan para la ciudad”.

TULSA— The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa will host a candidate forum for the candidates vying for the position of Tulsa County Sheriff. The forum is to be held on Thursday, March 10th, 2016, at the Thomas K. McKeon Center for Creativity at Tulsa Community College and will begin at 6:30pm. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Vic Regalado won the Republican primary election on March 1st. In the general election, taking place on April 5th, Regalado will face the Democratic candidate, Rex Berry.
Both candidates are looking to fill the Sheriff position which became vacant after the controversial resignation of former Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz. The forum aims to inform voters on each candidate’s stance on the issues facing the future Sheriff. The League believes that forums are one key mechanism in ensuring voters are armed with unbiased information when heading to the polls.
The forum will be cosponsored and hosted by Tulsa Community College. The Frontier will be the media sponsor for the event. Ziva Branstetter, Editor-in-Chief of The Frontier, will moderate the forum using the League of Women Voters’ Candidate Forum Guidelines.
“The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa is excited to partner with both TCC and The Frontier to provide voters with the opportunity to learn more about the candidates running for Sheriff,” LWVMT Board President Elizabeth Harris said. “With the recent spotlight on the Tulsa County Sheriff’s office, voters are demanding more information on the candidates, which we hope to provide through this forum.”
