Inland Master Chorale invites singers to audition
The Inland Master Chorale is looking for experienced choral singers to join the 70-member Redlandsbased chorus.
Prospective members are invited to open rehearsals 7 p.m. Aug. 23 and 30 in Memorial Chapel on the University of Redlands campus, 1200 E. Colton Ave. Auditions are by appointment Aug. 31.
At the open rehearsals, prospective members rehearse music for the chorale’s first concert of the season along with current members, getting a feel for the group’s practice routine and the level of musicianship expected.
In the audition, each singer is evaluated on sightreading, tonal memory and the performance of a musical piece he or she selects, according to a news release.
Joseph Modica, the chorale’s artistic director, and Zachary Krug, the group’s new assistant director, will administer the auditions.
Krug, a native of Southern California, is the choir director at his alma mater, Vista Murrieta High School, and is music director at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temecula.
He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and a Master of Music degree in vocal chamber music, both from the University of Redlands, and his choirs travel out of state each year to choral festivals and invitationals.
Inland Master Chorale rehearses 7:15-10 p.m. Tuesdays, and performances are 4 p.m. Sundays at the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel. This season’s concerts are “Poetry in Song,” Oct. 30; “Handel’s ‘Messiah’ and More,” Dec. 18; ” ‘Ragtime,’ in Concert,” March5; and “Carmina Burana,” May 7.
