JULIA: A BABY AT 50 SAVES HER MARRIAGE
Once destined for divorce court, Julia Roberts and Danny Moder are now headed for the delivery room
It’s been a rough few years for Julia Roberts and Danny Moder. After 16 years of marriage, serious cracks were starting to show in their once-rock-solid relationship. According to a friend close to the couple, Julia’s demanding and controlling ways were taking a toll on Danny, and his jealousy issues were pushing her to the edge. The parents of twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 13, and Henry, 11, were living separate lives. And then came the surprise of a lifetime, one that’s brought them back together and closer than they’ve ever been: At 50, friends are saying Julia is pregnant, an insider tells In Touch exclusively. “Julia and Danny are ecstatic. The surprise news has saved their marriage and totally turned their lives around,” says the insider. “We’re hearing it’s a boy, which Julia will love at this stage in her life, because boys are easier.”
FATE INTERVENES
Now, cinematographer Danny, 49, who had moved across the street (to another house the couple own) during their most recent rough patch, is back at home. “They’re happily living under the same roof again,” says the insider. One source of contention for the couple had actually been Danny’s desire to have another baby, an idea that Julia initially resisted. “Danny loves being a dad,” says the insider, “and has been pushing Julia for the past several months to have more children.” Julia finally relented — and before she knew it she was pregnant, says the insider: “The pregnancy happened naturally. Although Julia is 50, from what I’ve heard it just happened — no IVF or anything! It’s like it was fate.”
PRECIOUS MOMENTS
Hands-on dad Danny doesn’t have a preference whether it’s a boy or a girl, but he’s quite excited about getting his baby fix. “He loves coaching his older kids at soccer and teaching them how to play other sports and how to surf,” says the insider, “but he also loves that baby period.” Hazel, Finn and Henry are also excited about the baby. “They’re at the age where they won’t be jealous of a new baby,” says the insider. “They can’t wait to babysit!” It’s a dream come true for all involved. “It’s the ultimate win-win for the entire family,” says the insider. “It was touch-and-go there for a few years, but the baby news has saved Julia and Danny’s marriage — and they have never been happier in their lives.”
