IS KANYE HEADED FOR ANOTHER BREAKDOWN?

Kanye West’s erratic behavior has his loved ones fearing the worst

-

The call was supposed to clear the air. On April 24, Kanye West phoned into host Ebro Darden’s Hot 97 radio show to follow up on a tense, private conversation the pair had several days prior, in which Kanye allegedly expressed great affection for Donald Trump. “You want me to put you on hold? Talk to you privately?” Ebro asked his pal. “Nah, man, I’m just calling to say, ‘I love you,’” said Kanye, who then launched into Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You.”

Kanye’s increasingly bizarre behavior has friends and family worrying about his mental health. In recent days, Kanye has posted a series of controversial tweets, fired manager Scooter Braun and, according to an insider, been seen talking to himself and claiming that he’s “being watched.” On April 26, Kanye even shared a private text from his friend and protégé John Legend, who urged Kanye not to let supporting Trump “be part of your legacy.” Some close to him fear the 21-time Grammy winner, 40, will have a repeat of his infamous 2016 meltdown, when cops responded to his reported “psychiatric emergency” and took him to LA’S UCLA Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for eight days. In recent weeks, the insider tells In Touch, wife Kim Kardashian has been getting calls from concerned friends, like JayZ and Common, asking if Kanye needs help again. “The warning signs are there, and she’s very concerned,” says the insider.

STRESSED OUT

Publicly, Kim is standing by her man. “I love him and respect him,” Kim, 37, tweeted on April 25, scolding anyone who suggested that his mental health was an issue. “Kanye is years ahead of his time.” But privately, she and the rest of the Kardashian-jenner clan are panicking that the musician, who has vowed to put out two albums in June, is under too much pressure, says the insider: “Kim can’t take it anymore. She and her family are tired of covering for Kanye and putting out fires that he keeps creating.”

One of Kim’s biggest complaints: his controversial tweets. After rejoining Twitter on April 15, he went on a weeklong rant, with posts ranging from politics to his own genius. And while Kanye did tweet on April 25 that “my wife called” and wanted him to make it clear that “I don’t agree 100 percent with anyone but myself,” Kim would like more control over his social media “to prevent further embarrassment,” a source tells In Touch. “But he refuses to let her. He’s determined to let the world hear his views.”

Kanye sees himself as some sort of prophet, says the insider: “He thinks he’s a savior. But he’s delusional.” Last year, his former friend, rapper GLC, told In Touch that Kanye struggled with paranoia, too. “Kanye did say one time that ‘they are trying to kill me,’ but he didn’t say who ‘they’ were,” GLC said, adding that he could tell when Kanye was “losing it” in 2016. Radio host Ebro recently claimed that Kanye told him that being “addicted to opioids” led to his hospitalization — but that’s not what Kim and Kanye said back in 2016. Kim actually blamed the trauma of her own robbery at gunpoint in Paris a month earlier for Kanye’s psychological snap. (Kanye’s camp told a different story in a subsequent lawsuit between the rapper and his insurance company over the sudden cancelation of his tour because of his breakdown. Court docs exclusively obtained by In Touch revealed that Kanye “continues to be treated” by his primary physician, who said Kanye could not continue with his tour due to a “debilitating medical condition.”)

As the situation continues to escalate, Kim is left trying to figure out her next move, with three small children to look after. “He’s imploding,” says the insider. “And there’s nothing she can do about it.” ◼
