UC Cooperative Extension Field Day set to take place
HOLTVILLE — On Tuesday, an Agronomic Crops and Irrigation Water Management Field Day will be held at the University of California Desert Research & Extension Center, 1004 E. Holton Road.
Registration for the event will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., followed by field demonstrations and indoor workshops from 7 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

From 7 a.m. to 8:35 a.m., there will be eight stops during the field demonstrations tour, which include showcasing sunflower research in the Imperial Valley, onion irrigation and water management, sugar beet nematodes and grass weed identification guides.
Crop infestation preferences of sugarcane aphid, small grain variety release, Rhodes grass and automatic flood irrigation will also be shown.
Each field demonstration will be limited to five minutes.
From 8:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m., seventeen presentations within the indoor workshops will be held, such as optimizing spray water quality, improving the efficiency of flood irrigation and advances in soil solarization technology for pest management.
Lunch is set to be served after the last presentation.
