HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Boys Jalen Washington, Sr., Montgomery
Notable: Washington rushed for 293 yards and five touchdowns in the Bears’ 52-32 victory over Fulshear on Friday. Montgomery improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in District 10-5A Division II. Washington has 781 rushing yards and nine touchdowns this season.
What coach John Bolfing said: “Jalen had a tremendous night running the football against a very tough, well-coached Fulshear defense.”

Jalen Morrison, Sr.,
Heights: Morrison completed 22 of 31 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns during the Bulldogs’ 69-0 victory over Bellaire on Friday. He also rushed for another score.
Dillon Bell, Sr., Kinkaid: Bell collected 11 catches for 215 yards and four touchdowns during a 64-27 victory over St. Mark’s on Friday. He also rushed for a touchdown and finished with 274 all-purpose yards.
Sergio Lara, Sr., La
Porte: Lara took first place at the Alvin ISD Freedom Run, completing the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17 minutes, 52.60 seconds. La Porte also took first place as a team.
Girls Devyn Lewis, Jr., Manvel
Notable: Lewis recorded 29 kills, seven digs and two aces during a four-set victory over Baytown Sterling in District 23-5A action Tuesday. She followed that up with 13 kills, eight digs and two aces during a sweep of Santa Fe on Friday. Lewis leads Manvel in kills with 342 this season.

Kennedy said: “She is a versatile player that has come up big for us this season. She is limitless on potential as an athlete.”

Eliza Konvicka, Sr.,
Bellaire: Konvicka recorded 27 kills and 25 digs over two victories against Westside and Heights, helping her team improve to 8-0 in District 18-6A play. She leads the team with 314 kills this season.
Jonaida Donowa,
Soph., New Caney: Donowa collected 31 kills and posted a .574 hitting percentage as New Caney earned District 20-5A sweeps against Cleveland and Caney Creek.
Ximena Lopez, Jr.,
Katy Jordan: Lopez took first place at the Pasadena Memorial Maverick Stampede meet on Saturday, completing the 3,200meter course in 12 minutes, 50.49 seconds to lead Jordan to the team title.
