Mets top Yankees in Subway series

NEW YORK — Michael Conforto busted out of his slump in a big way, hitting a two-run double that snapped an eighth-inning tie and lifted the New York Mets over the Yankees 4-2 on Tuesday night in their Subway Series opener at Citi Field.

The Yankees did not hit a home run for the first time in 32 games, ending their major league-record streak. REDS 5, BREWERS 4: Christian Yelich hit his major league-leading 31st homer for Milwaukee, but Yasiel Puig homered to start Cincinnati’s comeback and scored the winning run in the 11th inning, ending the visiting Brewers’ streak of six straight wins at Great American Ball Park. RAYS 6, ORIOLES 3: Charlie Morton struck out six straight batters and a season-high 12 overall, and Tampa Bay beat visiting Baltimore for its fourth straight win. PHILLIES 2, BRAVES 0: Aaron Nola pitched eight innings, Jay Bruce hit a two-run double, and Philadelph­ia spoiled Dallas Keuchel’s home debut with Atlanta. RED SOX 10, BLUE JAYS 6: David Price pitched six innings to win his fifth straight decision, Rafael Devers homered twice and matched his career-high with six RBI, and Boston won at Toronto. NATIONALS 3, MARLINS 2: Patrick Corbin pitched seven strong innings, Trea Turner doubled home the winning run in the ninth, and host Washington beat Miami. INDIANS 9, ROYALS 5: Jake Bauers matched a career high with four hits while driving in three runs, the Cleveland bullpen bailed Trevor Bauer out of a late jam, and the Indians held on to win at Kansas City. ANGELS 9, RANGERS 4: Justin Bour delivered a tworun single on the first pitch he saw after replacing injured American League All-Star Tommy La Stella, and Los Angeles won at Texas. PIRATES 5, CUBS 1: Adam Frazier hit a three-run home run off Chicago’s Mike Montgomery after a long rain delay to lead Pittsburgh over the visiting Cubs. GIANTS 10, PADRES 4: Evan Longoria homered twice and had five RBIs to lead San Francisco to a win against host San Diego. ATHLETICS 8, TWINS 6: Chris Herrmann hit a grand slam, and Oakland held on to beat visiting Minnesota. MARINERS 5, CARDINALS 4: Tim Beckham hit a tiebreakin­g home run in the eighth inning, lifting host Seattle over St. Louis. DODGERS 5, DIAMONDBAC­KS 4: Cody Bellinger drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to drive in the winning run as host Los Angeles beat Arizona.
