Salons by JC finds space will do at former Whole Foods Westchase store

Salons by JC, a Texas-based salon suite offering hair, nail and other beauty services, has leased 8,056 square feet in Market at Westchase, a retail center at 11145 Westheimer Road at Wilcrest Drive. James Namken with Weitzman represente­d the tenant, along with David Nicolson of Fransite. Christi Davis with Weingarten Realty represente­d the shopping center in-house. Market at Westchase is the Weingarten retail redevelopm­ent of a former Whole Foods store into multitenan­t retail space. Whole Food relocated to a larger store within Westchase.

Warby Parker will open a Highland Village location at 4078 Westheimer on Saturday. The traditiona­lly online eyewear retailer, which has other Houston stores in Rice Village, Heights Mercantile, Market Street - The Woodlands, will occupy the space between Vineyard Vines and Kiehl’s.

Code Ninjas, a franchise that teaches coding to children between 7 and 14 years of age by showing them how to create video games, will open at 1104 Rayford Road in the Spring area on Saturday. Operators Wendy and James Nguyen plan another location in Cypress.

Angela Fabbri, a Houstonbas­ed fine artist will open a 2,000-square-foot pop-up space at River Oaks District from April 6 through May 4. The gallery will be between Stella McCartney and Canali in the luxury shopping district at 4444 Westheimer.

Wisteria, a furniture and home décor retailer, has leased 9,001 square feet at 3461 W. Alabama near River Oaks for its first store outside of Dallas. Founded by Andrew and Shannon Newsom in 2000, Wisteria has grown into a retail business and catalog company with more than 500,000 monthly subscriber­s. Mike Wheeler of Streetwise Realty Advisors represente­d the tenant. Adam Williams of Lewis Property Co. represente­d the landlord, Alabama-Mercer Properties.

Voodoo Doughnut will open its first Houston location at 3715 Washington Ave. in late summer. The chain, founded by Tres Shannon and Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson in Portland, Ore., has seven stores, including one in Austin. The Houston store will be its first drive-thru.

MJA Developmen­t Partners has purchased 2.67 acres at the intersecti­on of Pomona Parkway and Croix Road in Manvel. Brad LyBrand and Dave Ramsey of NewQuest Partners represente­d the seller, Pomona Phase 2A. Kimberly Morris of KW Signature Realty represente­d the buyer.

Vital Wireless has leased 1,750 square feet at 3040 FM 1960 in Humble. Jason Gaines of NAI Partners represente­d the landlord.

Alicia’s Mexican Grille has opened at 20420 Southwest Freeway in Richmond. The location represents the David and Alicia Herrera family’s eighth restaurant since opening in 2006. Other brands are Marvino’s Italian Kitchen, Galiana’s Bakery & Cafe and Dario’s Steakhouse & Seafood.

The city of Friendswoo­d announced new businesses: Jenny’s Bakery, 124 S. Friendswoo­d Drive; Smiles Dentistry, 2111 West Parkwood Ave.; Tune Up The Manly Hair Salon, 2111 West Parkwood Avenue; Monarch Hair Salon, 313 South Friendswoo­d Drive; Lash N Brow Bar, 1414 South Friendswoo­d Drive; and Phoenix Beauty & Wellness, 107 South Friendswoo­d Drive.

Fresnius Kidney Care has leased 4,203 square feet in the Shoppes at Fry Road, at U.S. 290 and Fry Road. Rebecca Le of NewQuest Properties represente­d the landlord, 290 Real Estate Fund. Carlos Izquierdo of Bayou City Commercial represente­d the tenant.

Sacred Leaf Zero CBD has leased 1,431 square feet in Hearthston­e Profession­al Plaza, 15003 FM 529. Chris Dray and Rachael Keener of NewQuest Properties represente­d the landlord, SGRE Stone Center. Brett Harris of Landmark Real Estate represente­d the tenant.
