MARGARET HIMES

1923-2018

-

Margaret Himes passed away peacefully on February 22, 2018 in Houston, Texas, her home for the past 48 years. Throughout her life, she was brave, strong and loyal to her family, faith and friends. She was a devoted daughter, a loving spouse and a proud mother.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Margaret received a four-year scholarship to Norte Dame Catholic College in Baltimore but had to drop out after her father died. Margaret married William (Bill) Himes on September 9th 1950. Her sixty-year marriage to Bill was one truly made in heaven and together they built a lovely life full of fun with friends and family, dancing, bridge, worldwide travels and volunteer activities. During Bill’s career with Shell Oil, the family moved eleven times and each time Margaret made a beautiful home that welcomed all.

Margaret is survived by her only child, Susan Himes, and her son-in-law, Bob Pantermuehl, sister-in-law and brother in-law Wilma and Donald Stegman and four nieces and nephews: Tom Himes, Cynthia Miraglia, Nancy Himes and Mark Stegman.

We wish to express our profound gratitude to Home Health Resources and personally to Alisa Thompson and her team at Parkway for their kindness and excellent care of Margaret during the past four years. The hospice team at Memorial Hermann Hospice at town and country made a difficult situation peaceful and meaningful.

A funeral will be held on 26 February at 10 AM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local hospice organization.
